One of the most consistent hitters in the history of the game Zach Wheat hit over .300 an incredible 13 times and batted over .350 three consecutive times. Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1959 Wheat collected 2,884 hits during his 19 years in the Major Leagues and surely remains one of the great players of the dead ball era. This Official Victor League Baseball has been signed twice by Wheat, once on the sweetspot and once on a side panel. The sweet spot signature is in black marker and rates an 8. The side panel has been signed "Sincerely Zach D Wheat, Brooklyn Dodgers, 1909 thru 26, Phil A's 1927" in ink with the signature and inscription rating an 8. The ball itself shows a nice even tone and a light coating has been placed over the side panel signature. Keeping in mind that Wheat passed away long before the days of card shows and private signings you would be hard pressed to another ball signed by him on which he has added so much about his career.
