In 1951, Major League Baseball reached the age of 75 as dated from the inception of the National League in 1876. Baseball "Diamond Jubilee" marked the beginning of the greatest era in baseball history. Snider, Mantle and Mays roamed centerfield for the mighty New York clubs while stars like Musial, Williams and Feller continued to shine. The integration of African-Americans into baseball brought players like Robinson, Campanella, Newcombe, Doby, Irvin and Paige to the Majors and raised the level of talent throughout the league. These 13 game-used Major League caps date from the years 1950-66. The teams are: New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia A's, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates (2), Minnesota Twins, Washington Senators and St. Louis Browns. All the caps show good wear with the inside leather band showing some deterioration on the A's, Indians and Senators caps.
