This lot features a signed letter from US Senator Robert F. Kennedy written to Edward W. Varnum, the former president of Quabaug Rubber Company in Massachusetts. The letter is brief but speaks of Kennedy’s appreciation for their friendship. Information on Varnum is scarce online but it can be assumed that they knew each other from living in Massachusetts. This letter was written in 1965 shortly after Kennedy’s inauguration to the US Senate. Kennedy’s term was cut short as he was assassinated while campaigning for the 1968 Presidential Election. Also included in this lot is a magazine clipping featuring an image of portrait of Kennedy with the backside showing a campaign stop image. Kennedy signed the letter near the bottom of the page and in our opinion the autograph rates a strong 8. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
