The 1927 New York Yankees lineup was known as “Murderer’s Row” due to the damage they would inflict on opposing teams. Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig hit 3rd and 4th respectively in a lineup that included 4 future hall of famers. Ruth mashed 60 home runs and Gehrig hit 47 during the season and the Yankees ultimately went on to sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. “Reach” manufactured OAL baseball with the Ban Johnson red president’s stamp appropriately faded with age. Ruth has signed on the sweet spot with Gehrig’s signature adjacent on the west panel. This baseball presents both signatures beautifully displayed on a single plane. Both signatures are done in black steel-tip fountain pen and in our opinion the Gehrig rates an 8 and the Ruth rates a 7. The baseball is in NM condition with a light and even coat of shellac. Accompanied by a full LOA from JSA. PSA was unable to authenticate. This is one of the nicest dual-signed baseballs that we have had the pleasure of offering. A truly outstanding relic in the right time frame for two of the best to ever play the game. Outstanding eye appeal and great patina, you would be hard pressed to find a better example.
