For 21 seasons, Willie "Pops" Stargell was a mainstay in Pittsburgh, leading the team to two World Championships. A tremendous power hitter, he ended his career with 475 homeruns. It is because of him that the practice of measuring homeruns (tape-measure homerun) has become so popular. This batting helmet was used by Willie during the mid 1970s. On the front of the helmet is the Pirates "P" and on the back is his jersey number "8". It was manufactured by the American Baseball Cap company and is size "7 3/8". He has signed the helmet on the outside in faded blue sharpie with a signature that rates a 7. On the field and in the locker room Stargell remains one of the games most beloved figures.
