In one of the most captivating summers in the history of baseball, "61 in '61" became the catchphrase of an era. Chasing the most hallowed record in baseball, unlikely hero Roger Maris edged out his more glorious teammate Mickey Mantle to capture the crown. This Rawlings OAL Brown baseball has been signed in blue ink by the immortal '61 Yankees home run duo, Mickey Mantle (sweet spot) and Roger Maris on the panel below. Mantle added the inscription “Best Wishes” above his signature. The two signatures are perfectly situated so that both can be displayed together. The autographs are both done in blue ballpoint pen and in our opinion rate a 9 overall. The ball is mostly clean with light toning and rates EX-NM overall. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
