Few pitchers have been as dominating in their careers as Cardinals HOF right-hander Bob Gibson. His World Series pitching has become the stuff of legend -- he won seven consecutive games, threw eight straight complete games, and holds the records for most strikeouts in a game (17) and most total strikeouts in a series (35). The lucky winner of this auction has the opportunity to go to Omaha, Nebraska, meet Bob Gibson and spend an afternoon with him, and pick up his 1956 Ford Thunderbird! The entire car has been repainted to its original eggshell white. The 312 cid V8 engine block (rated at 215 bhp with automatic transmission) has been repainted to its original red, but has never needed any major work of any kind. The shroud, alternator and brake fluid reservoir have been custom chromed. The interior has been totally reupholstered, the dash taken apart and repainted. On the car now are original type white wide sidewalls with wire wheels, but the owner will also receive the original hubs and wheels that came with car. The car has both tops -- the hard top is the original top, the soft top (no rips or tears) has been re-made specifically for this car. There are 24,262 original miles at the time of this writing, and when we asked Mr. Gibson if anything was wrong with the car, he told us that if there was he'd like someone to point it out because he doesn't think there is! At only a $30,000.00 reserve, this restored classic would be a bargain even if it didn't belong to Bob Gibson!
