This is an extremely rare 28" x 40" full-sheet poster by one of America's greatest and most accomplished illustrators, Joseph Christian Leyendecker. A large circle in vibrant colors depicting Miss Liberty paying a tribute of thanks to an American sailor dominates this naval recruiting poster. The poster is linen backed, which minimizes the imperfection that runs down the middle of the poster, including the illustration. The white background of the poster surrounding the illustration shows some soiling, and a minor tear shows on the lower right corner. Printed in 1917 by the U.S. Navy Publicity Bureau in New York, the poster grades on overall VG. A patriotic classic by one of our great illustrators!
