In 1866, Jesse and Frank James assembled a band of outlaws who roamed the central states of our country engaging in an often romanticized trail of robbery and murder. Their legacy is firmly rooted in American folk lore and the pair has been the subject of countless movies, television shows, articles, and books. This volume was prepared as a salesman's sample for a work entitled "The James Brothers Illustrated." The hard-cover book was written by Jay Donald and is a first edition, published in 1882. It contains 520 pages including many which have tastefully executed wood cuts related to the story contained within. Several period notations appear on the last few pages which are presumed related to the sale of the volume. In very good to excellent overall condition.
