Extremely rare 27-1/8" high x 17-1/2" wide (dated 1865) G.W. Colton map of "New York City, Brooklyn, Jersey City, Hoboken Etc." The map shows the Harbor and Waterways, extending from Jersey City and Hoboken (NJ) east to most of Long Island City (Queens, NY). This single-sheet, double-page map is in EX-MT condition with one horizontal fold, extremely clean. These are not the kinds of maps that can be found at the corner bookstore. This Civil War era map shows stunning hand-colored detail and bordering, with shaded waterways and shades of green, red and yellow color work on the land masses. The 139-year old map has been beautifully double matted and framed to 23" x 31-5/8."
