Collection of three extremely rare multi-colored Apollo XV insurance First Day Covers, each 6.5" x 3.5" stamped "KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL JULY 26 AM 1971" (Apollo XV took off for the Moon at 9:34 that morning) signed by all three crew members: Jim Irvin, Dave Scott and Al Worden. A very limited number of such "insurance" First Day Covers were furnished only to crew members to sign while in quarantine within hours of their launch to the Moon! Signed insurance covers would then be postmarked and delivered to each astronaut's family. In the event the crew perished, families could then sell covers to raise money since they were unable to obtain insurance otherwise. Truly historic Apollo collectible, choice examples, each cover featuring three dark, bold, pristine signatures, each accompanied by certification from Jim Irwin's widow. This lot comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
