Young Confederate general wounded at Gettysburg, rejoined his troops at Chickamauga where he lost his right leg, died in poverty in his 40s. ALS "J.B. Hood", 8" x 3.75", Aug. 6, 1876, concerning General Maury's Review of Vanhorn's history of the Army of the Cumberland. Hood's signature and entire writing is dark, bold and near pristine. This lot comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
