Asst, Adjt.", 7.75" x 9.75", to "Brig. Genl R. Jones Adjutant General of the Army" informing him "I have the honor to enclose herewith Return of the Corps of Engineers and officers of the line of the Army on duty in the Engineer Department ..." Just 10 days earlier, Sept 21, Lee received promotion to 1st Lieutenant. Especially dark, bold signature, custom framed and matted with brief description, and an overall size of 13" x 15."
