"Dr. No" was the sixth "James Bond" book, but the first to be made into a motion picture, which began a series of immensely popular thrillers that have starred top actors from Sean Connery to Roger Moore. This is the hardcover first edition, first printing (British, the "true" first edition), 12mo, published 1958 by Jonathan Cape, London. There were two binding variants to this edition, this is the one without the embossed female silhouette on the front board (no precedence for either state has been established, though this variant is scarcer). Silver titles and colophon on backstrip. Pages are clean with tight binding, black cloth cover shows one nick on the upper right corner. There is a tiny dent on the right center front board. Very light shelf wear on the tail and head of the spine. No dust jacket, in overall F/VF condition, rare to find in this condition!
