Murray Olderman was the sports editor and cartoonist for the Newspaper Enterprise Association newspaper service. He was one of the first sports writers to devote all of his time to football coverage. Many of Olderman's drawings appear in the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. This lot includes seven separate original drawings done in blue and black ink, as well as charcoal pencils on light beige card stock paper. All drawings were completed in the late 50s for NEA, and include many signs of craftmanship, from production notes to white-out fix-ups. From cartoons, to amazingly life-like renditions of players and coaches, Olderman's skill is very apparent in these pieces of art. Murray includes many renderings of 50s personalities such as Jim Brown, Joe Kuharich, Charles Conerly, J.G. Taylor Spink, and Pat Summerall. Each piece has Olderman's signature in the bottom corner, and are in excellent to near mint condition. The signatures come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
