This is a collection of 47 Wheaties boxes from the 1990s -- almost all are unopened with an occasional dent. Famous for putting the images of famous athletes who endorsed their product on their cereal boxes, Wheaties was the sponsor of the first televised commercial sports broadcast -- an August 29, 1939 game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers. There were only about 500 television set owners in New York City at the time. These boxes feature great images of Larry Bird, Ken Griffey Jr., Cal Ripken Jr., Joe Torre and Walter Payton, as well as many other stars from professional baseball, football, basketball and the Olympics. Also included are several of Michael Jordan, including the rare "Space Jam" boxes.
