Cassius Clay defeated the reigning heavyweight champion of the world, Sonny Liston, on February 25, 1964, in Miami Beach, Florida. The fight lasted only six rounds. This 8-1/2" x 2-3/4" promotional flyer, as well as a 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" ticket stub are from that night in the Miami Beach Convention Hall. They are in EX condition with a few very small paper tears, slight browning from age on the flyer, and a small piece of tape on the edge of the stub. Also included are framed and matted "Daily News" newspaper articles with the headlines "Clay KOs Liston In One Minute" and "Big-Mouth Clay Eats Up Sonny" from the May 1965 rematch in which Clay knocked out Liston in the first minute. The piece also includes a 5-1/2" x 2-1/2" autographed cut signed by Ali in blue marker. The piece is in NM condition and measures 28" x 25" overall. The lot comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
