Hall of Famer Tom Yawkey's accomplishments in baseball came in the front office, not on the field. For the 44 year period that he owned the Boston Red Sox he devoted himself fully to turning the team into a winner and for this he was rewarded with three American League pennants. Like any great fan of the game Yawkey did enjoy playing it and took time to join his team in practice from time to time. Offered here is his practice glove and two undershirts, obtained by our consignor from the team's former equipment manager who vouched for their history. The glove, a Lonny Frey signature model has a well worn "Rawlings" manufacturers tag on the outside and is absolutely hammered with use. Both of the shirts have the "Tim McAuliffe" tag in the collar and the name "Yawkey" written on the upper back in customary black marker. Because of the nature of Yawkey's work it is likely that this is the only equipment that can be attributed to him in the hobby.
