On the corner of Michigan and Trumbull streets in Detroit, Michigan, one of the most intimate, captivating, and storied ballbarks in sports once stood. Briggs Stadium was the result of Walter Briggs' three-year renovation of old Navin Field, which included a massive upper deck enclosing the stadium that increased capacity from 23,000 to 53,000. The stadium saw new ownership again in 1961 and was renamed Tiger Stadium. Over the next 45 years the stadium saw little or no changes. The short porch in right field saw many a 300-foot flyout turn into a home run, the visitors dugout once bore a sign reading, "Visitors Dugout, No Visitors" and the stadium was witness to such storied moments as Babe Ruth's 700th home run and Ty Cobb stealing home, just a few of the endearing traits of an antiquated yet charming ballpark. The seats are original green wooden Briggs Stadium seats, show terrific wear and have been recently repainted. On either side of the attached seats is an emblem of Tiger swinging a bat.
