For 44 years, Ebbets Field played host to the beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. The park itself was something of an architectural curiosity with an oddly shaped outfield that was plastered with classic advertisements. It was torn down when the club moved to Los Angeles and surviving pieces are rare and highly sought after. Offered here are two flagpoles that stood atop the roof of Ebbets Field. The poles stand 15' 2" tall and are 6-1/2" around, set on an 8" x 8" base. They are in excellent condition with consideration to their age. They are accompanied by documentation from Marty Adler, President of the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame, who has extensively researched them and confirmed their history. Through research Adler was able to determine that they were used to fly the flags that represented the teams' standing in the league, making this a truly historic offering. The Ebbets Field foul poles, which originate from the same grouping of Ebbets Field relics as these, were sold by another prominent auction house several years ago. Please note: shipping for this lot is to be worked out between the winning bidder and consignor at the close of auction. The flags seen in the image are not original to the flagpoles and do not accompany them. Charges may be substantial due to the nature of the items involved.
