The 1947 World Series was considered one of the most exciting in history. With both teams being from New York, it became a true battle of the boroughs. This series featured the first-ever pinch-hit home run, accomplished by Yogi Berra. It also happened to be Jackie Robinson's rookie season. This lot of 70+ original wire photos captures incredible images of extraordinary plays, huge crowds of fans, stadium vendors, player meetings, injuries, sequences, collisions, and arguments. In very good condition, each photo has been marked for cropping. The actual newspaper cutout has been attached to the back, with included captions.
