George Weiss's career as a baseball executive began when he purchased his own ball club at age 24. He would take the experience he gained there and move on to lead the Yankees to 10 pennants and seven World Series, and ended his career as the first President of the New York Mets. He drafted this letter on July 12, 1962, while serving in that position. The content is interesting in that he makes reference of the Mets' dismal performance in 1962, reading in part, "...With things going rather badly as they have for the Mets of late, observations such as your are a big help." Signed at the close "George M. Weiss" in ink rating a 9. The stationery that the letter is composed on is as much a collectable as Weiss's signature, with a beautiful team logo at the top in color and "Meet the Mets" printed along the bottom. Please do note the team's address at the time, the Polo Grounds. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
