Jackie Robinson is a legendary figure, whose name is now synonymous with the desegregation and redefinition of professional sports. Offered here are two letters. The first letter, by Jackie, was written to his friends in Montreal while vacationing in Los Angeles. It tells the status of his recently born son, Jackie Jr., mentioning his weight, height, and that he is well behaved. He wishes his pals the best, and signed the letter in black pen. The second letter, written by Rachel Robinson, explains that Jackie will be heading out to Cuba for spring training (before his rookie season with Brooklyn), that the baby is doing well, and that she and Jackie still aren't sure where they will be living when the season begins. This letter is signed by Mrs. Robinson in black ink. Also included in this lot is the wallet-sized photo of the baby, at thirteen days old, which was originally sent with the letters. The lot includes the original sent envelope which is stamped "Los Angeles Feb 13, 10 PM, 1947." The letters and photo are in excellent to near mint condition. The signatures average 9s, and come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
