1934 was a year to rebuild for the fabled New York Yankees. They had won the World Championship in 1932 and another slipped through their fingers in '33. When they met that spring in St. Petersburg Florida, there were several unknowns mixed in among familiar faces, all trying for a spot on the regular season roster. This "Semi Pro League" baseball was taken by our consignor to where the greats gathered, and he personally got it signed by 16 members of the team, including Babe Ruth (sweet spot), Joe McCarthy, Lefty Gomez, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Red Ruffing, Earle Combs, Jimmie Deshong, Johnny Murphy, Red Rolfe, Don Heffner, and Vito Tamulis. The remaining signers were in attendance but did not make the cut and their names have been lost to history. All have signed in vintage blue ink, rating 3-7, with "The Babe" remaining the strongest of them all (7) and the others falling somewhere in between. The ball shows an even tone and the coat of shellack, applied long ago to aid in preservation, has flaked in a few minute areas. Notated "St. Peters Fla. March 23, 1934" on the reverse sweet spot. The autographs come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
