The 1970s were trying times for Hank Aaron. On the verge of breaking Babe Ruth's home run record, we can only imagine the immense pressure he felt when approaching the mark and the relief when it was all over. This bat dates from that time period and was purportedly used during the historic 1974 season. The bat comes with a letter from former Major League pitcher Buzz Capra stating that Aaron personally handed him the bat during the historic 1974 season after he had used it. We can only confirm the very lightest of use and, as such, the bat is being sold as a "game-bat." The player number "44" appears on the knob in vintage black marker. Also on the knob is "33 1/2" in blue marker indicating the weight at production. A faded "Best Wishes Hank Aaron" signature has been penned on the barrel. Manufacturer: Adirondack, Model Number: 229A, Labeling Period: 1972-76, Length: 35 inches, Weight: 33.2 ounces, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The bat and autograph each come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
