There have been several World Series' that were decided in the very last out of the very last game, but none can compare with the dramatics of the 1962 affair between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants. Not only did the 62 series come down to the last out, but feared slugger Willie McCovey was up at the plate with the tying run on third and the winner on second. He hit a low liner that was within reach of second baseman Bobby Richardson and the Yankees won their second consecutive World Championship reaffirming their rightful place on top of the baseball world. As is customary, each member of the organization was presented with the traditional championship ring. Stamped inside the band of this example is the player name "Elston Howard." The 10K gold ring is size 9-1/2 and is in near-mint to mint condition. "New York Yankees World Champions" is engraved around the top with a real diamond set in the center surrounded by a ball field. On either shank is the year "1962" above a raised "Yankees" top hat logo. Howard's original World Series rings were stolen years ago and have never surfaced. They are presumed to be melted down and this is the sole replacement, presented to his widow Arlene. It is offered for public sale by her directly and will come with a signed letter of authenticity stating that there will never be another made.
