The 1958 World Series saw a familiar matchup as the New York Yankees faced off against the Milwaukee Braves whom they had met in the same place the year before. In 57 the Braves were victorious but this was a new year and a different Yankee ball club that was determined to win. The Yanks did so in dramatic fashion after falling behind three games to one to begin the series. They then went on to win the next three games and bring the World Championship back to the American League and more importantly, to the Bronx. They were only the second club in Major League history to overcome such a deficit. For his efforts with the team that year Elston Howard was awarded the traditional Championship Ring. The classic 10K gold ring is size 9-1/2 and has the player name "Elston Howard" in script lettering on the inside band. "New York Yankees World Champions" is engraved around the top with a real diamond set in the center surrounded by a ball field. On either shank is the year "1958" above a raised "Yankees" top hat logo. Howard's original World Series rings were stolen years ago and have never surfaced. They are presumed to be melted down and this is the sole replacement, presented to his widow Arlene. It is offered for public sale by her directly and will come with a signed letter of authenticity stating that there will never be another made. Near-mint to mint condition.
