The first shot is a stunning, emotional photograph of Janis Joplin taken at Woodstock. This razor-sharp impression brilliantly captures rock's most tragic female superstar. Eyes tightly shut, as if in a trance, Janis is passionately clutching the microphone in her right hand while moving her left hand seductively down the shaft. The second photo portrays a sullen Jim Morrison reading an issue of Time magazine. The lead singer of The Doors, vulnerable to wide ranging mood swings, hair unkempt and beard unshaven, stares into the camera with soft brown eyes. The third is a wonderful, expressive photo of a youthful Mick Jagger, one of rock and roll's greatest personalities. The leader of the Rolling Stones has a microphone in hand, doing what he does best--belting out a "Stones" classic to adoring fans. The fourth portrait captures Richards, the Rolling Stones' legendary guitarist and backup vocalist, with a Jack Daniels in hand, on the tarmac at the airport during the New Barbarians tour in 1979. Richards is exiting his limo, distinctively dressed, reflecting the attitude earned by this generation's greatest rock and roll band. One of popular music's most recognizable images is this fifth portrait of "Sweet Baby James." This is the classic photograph that was used on the cover of James Taylor's first Warner Bros. release.
