Over the course of U.S. history, commemorative stamps have been issued to honor great people and remember important events. These two maroon leather-bound albums house hundreds of special edition collector panels issued by the Postal Commemorative Society. This collection features stamps honoring sporting greats Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Jim Thorpe, and Bobby Jones, as well as other famous people and events. Each collector panel has been printed on ivory linen paper and is divided into two parts: a watercolor print of the person or event being honored with a small caption, and a block of stamps in plastic sheeting, with a paragraph about the person, and one about the history of the stamp. Most of these stamps are from the 1970s-80s and had cost between 15-20 cents.
