The Federal Reserve Act of December 23, 1913, authorized the printing in 1914 of a new series of large 7 1/2" x 3 1/8" Federal Reserve Notes. No longer in circulation, the larger bills were ultimately called in after the smaller bills began printing in 1928. This lot contains "FINE" or better specimens of five of these Notes, all in different denominations and issued from different Federal Reserve Banks. With the exception of the $10 note, where Grover Cleveland is pictured rather than Alexander Hamilton, all the patriots featured are the same as in today's currency. The backs of the bills, however, are all quite different but beautiful. The contents of this lot are as follows: 1914 $ 5 Federal Reserve Note FINE Fr 867-a Atlanta 1914 $ 10 Federal Reserve Note FINE Fr 931-a Chicago 1914 $ 20 Federal Reserve Note FINE Fr 971-a New York 1914 $ 50 Federal Reserve Note VF Fr1039-b Cleveland 1914 $100 Federal Reserve Note FINE Fr 1085 Boston This is a nice start to any vintage U.S. Currency collection.
