George Washington's role as a symbol of American virtue was enhanced after his death by the Raphael Tucks and Sons "Washington's Birthday" series of post cards. This lot of 21 George Washington post cards are an assortment of R. Tucks, International Art Pub, Albertype and others. All cards are standard size, some posted and some un-posted, all of which fall into distinct groups: youth and home, married life, military and public legend, including the story about the cherry tree. The condition of this lot is very good overall.
