Superman has thrilled audiences on the big screen for many years. When Christopher Reeve put on the famous blue, red and yellow suit, he looked exactly like the Last Son of Krypton, almost like he had walked right out of the comic book. This original Superman costume was worn in one of the movies from the 1970s-80s Superman trilogy, which starred Reeve. The costume consists of a stretchy teal blue-green flying costume, red cape with ties, and yellow belt with velcro closure. The teal jumpsuit was used for the "blue screen" special effects because different screen techniques were used, causing the costume to appear more blue on film. The outdoor scenes, filmed with more natural light, made use of a variety of traditional blue costumes. The costume comes with a letter of authenticity from a Superman authority who purchased it from a costume director at Disney.
