This book entitled "Athletic Sports in America, England, and Australia" was published in Philadelphia by Hubbard Brothers. It is a First Edition containing 711 pages and is overwhelmingly devoted to baseball. The book contains incredible artwork and graphics, including four tissued chromolithographic full color plates within the text. Among the subjects covered are profiles of all the current professional teams and an account of the world barnstorming tour of 1889 between Chicago Baseball Club and an opposing all-star squad. The overall condition is very good; there is a 1-3/4" crack at the front hinge, 4 small perforations at back hinge, some darkening to boards, softening and wear to top and bottom of spine panel with the gilt lettering on spine and front cover slightly dulled. It is a sound, tight copy of a very scarce book from the beginnings of America's National Pastime.
