Eddie Mathews put together an outstanding 17-year Major League career. 1957 was one of Mathews' finest seasons as he helped lead the Braves to their first World Series since he had joined the club. They, of course, went on to win it. On the front of the cap is the raised embroidered "M." The inside leather sweatband is intact and shows outstanding use. The "Wilson" manufacturer's tag is sewn in as is "Mathews 7 1/8" in red chain stitch. The top of the brim has been signed "Eddie Mathews 512" in black marker. The cap originates from the Mathews estate. This provenance as well as the sewn-in name combine to offer you, the bidder, one of the finest game-used caps in the hobby. The autograph rates an 8 and comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
