The 1907 New York Giants were managed by Hall of Famer John McGraw and featured top players of the day like Christy Mathewson and Joe McGinnity. This turn of the century jersey dates to that year and is a fabulously rare one-year style. In the collar is the "Spalding" manufacturer's label. Above this is a white patch upon which the player name would have been written. In this case it appears to read "MoGitolly" of whom there is no record; however, he was likely a coach, trainer, or otherwise affiliated with the team. On the front of the jersey are the letters "NY" in felt that appears to have been blue when issued. It has faded to a blue-purple hue in the nearly 100 years since its manufacture. The grey flannel shirt has three button holes running from the neck halfway down the front and is constructed of a heavy flannel material. The sleeves are slightly longer than one would encounter on a modern-day jersey. The jersey shows evidence of nice wear and has been examined by an outside forensic laboratory that has confirmed the age of all the material, and the jersey is accompanied by their letter.
