As a successor to Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski in left field for the Red Sox, Jim Rice emerged as the AL's most feared slugger in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In the neck of this road knit jersey is the "McAuliffe" label and below this is the size tag "42." On the left front tail is the year tag "1976" and adjacent is the wash tag. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Boston" and on the back is the player number "14." Both the name and number are made of red on blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve is a black armband commemorating the death of Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey. The jersey shows good game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
