Who was the greatest hitter of all time? The debate rages on between Ruth, Williams, Cobb, and others. Give Ted Williams back the five seasons and 2500 at bats he lost to military service during two wars, and there might not be any doubt. His numbers, incredible as they are now, would project to 700 HRs, 2400 RBIs, 3500 hits and 2400 runs scored. There was no one better with a bat in his hands than the immortal "Splendid Splinter." This Hillerich and Bradsby Model O1 gamer is 35 inches long and weighs 33 ounces. The bat is cracked with excellent game use. There is no record of Williams ordering this model number from H&B, but there are records of the Boston Red Sox ordering many of these O1 models. The bat has a slight ding in the centerbrand that is a characteristic of O1 models from 1952-55 time period. The bat was given to teammate Tom Morgan by Ted Williams and was later purchased by our consignor. The front barrel is autographed in blue Sharpie and rates a 9. Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby, Model #: O1, Labeling Period: 1952-55, Length: 35 in, Weight: 33 oz, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The bat and autograph each come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
