Baseball lost one of the best pure hitters of all time to retirement following the 2001 season when Tony Gwynn hung up his cleats. Gwynn played 20 seasons in the Majors, compiling an outstanding .338 career batting average that included 3,141 hits. Simply put, Gwynn was a hitting machine. Offered here are 60 baseballs, all of which have been single-signed and numbered in blue marker by the future Hall-of-Famer. Each of the NM-MT commemorative balls features a photo of Gwynn and the date, time and place of his 3,000th hit, which took place on Friday, August 6, 1999 at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. The signatures grade a near 8 overall due to some light smudging. The autographs come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
