Reaching the World Series is the ultimate accomplishment not only for players but for umpires as well since they are career baseball men themselves. The 1946 World Series included not only two stellar ball clubs in the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox, but also an all-star umpiring crew, among which two umpires, Cal Hubbard and Al Barlick, were future Hall of Famers. This lightly toned, very good condition ONL Frick baseball was signed by the entire crew as well as then-Commissioner A.B. Chandler, who has since been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In addition to Hubbard, Barlick, and Chandler, the names of umpires Bill Grieve, Lee Ballifant, Charlie Berry, and "Beans" Reardon can be found on the ball. All signed in blue ink, the signatures rate an average of 8 and come with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
