Presented for the serious collector is an opportunity to acquire a Jimmie Foxx single signed baseball that is surely one of the very finest in our hobby. According to our consignor, the ball was signed on Saturday, August 12, 1961 at a Maryland Professional Baseball Players Association "Shrine of Immortals Night." A program from that event is included, which depicts Foxx on the cover and lists him as an honoree of the festivities. The era of manufacture of the baseball, with Cronin as the Commissioner, coincides with this time period. The signature is executed in a deep purple ink, with a very light bleed mentioned for the sake of accuracy, that contrasts beautifully with the almost white leather of the baseball. If the expression "can be read from across the room" is used to describe some signatures, then an elaboration on that phrase is necessary to describe this ball. Pure perfection and comparable, if not superior, to Foxx singles that have sold for more than $25,000. Accompanied by a letter from PSA/DNA.
