When Elston Howard was finally able to take over the Yankees' catching duties from Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, he took the job to another level defensively with an astounding career .993 fielding percentage. Along the way, Howard picked up two consecutive Gold Gloves, one in 1963 and the other in 1964. The lighter offered here was presented to Howard along with his Gold Glove in 1964 and is 5.5" high and about 2.25" in diameter. The black lighter has a gold, black, and red engraved diamond on it that says "Rawlings Gold Glove Award." Circling the base is a gold plate engraved "Elston Howard C 2nd Award 1964" in the same font style used to engrave the actual Gold Glove Awards. The lighter is in excellent condition. The fact that we have never seen one of these attests to the rarity of such a piece.
