Billy Martin will always be remembered for his fiery personality, both on and off the field. Cleveland General Manager Frank Lane once said, "He's the kind of guy you'd like to kill if he's playing on the other team, but you'd like ten of him on your side." This Martin New York Yankees road knit manager's uniform is from the 1983 season. In the neck is a grey knit patch with "Martin 83 1" in navy chain stitch to represent the player name, year, and set number, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "42." The team name "New York" is sewn across the front of the jersey and the player number "1" appears on the back, both in navy on white tackle twill. Included with the jersey is a matching pair of pants. In the waistband is a grey knit patch with "Martin 83 1 22 1/2" in navy chain stitch to represent the player name, year, set number, and inseam, respectively. To the left of this is the "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with the size "33." The pants come with Martin's original black belt. The uniform shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
