The 1975 season may have been Thurman Munson's finest. He achieved career high numbers in both average, .318, and hits, 190, while driving in 102 runs and striking out only 52 times in 597 plate appearances. For his display of talent behind the plate he was presented with the American League Gold Glove award and finished 7th in the Most Valuable Player voting. In the waistband of these home pinstriped pants is a white label reading "Munson 15 75 Set 1 22" in blue interlocking chain stitch. Next to this is the "Wilson" manufacturers tag with the size, "35." They show evidence of outstanding game use with team repairs to both shins, consistent with placement of a catcher's shin guards. The name "Wilhelm" appears in the waistband in black marker indicating that the pants, at one point, may have been worn by another member of the Yankees organization. This was a customary practice among all Major League teams at the time and is quite common.
