Mickey Mantle was baseball! He led the American League in home runs four times and was named Most Valuable Player of the American League three times. "The Mick" hit 18 World Series home runs, which is a record some say will never be broken. Offered is a pair of game-used Mickey Mantle New York Yankees home flannel pants from the 1959 season. Inside the waistband is the "Tim McAuliffe" label and next to this is a "59" label representing the year. To the left of the labels is "Mantle" written in vintage black marker that has faded over the years. Also added into the waistband is "60 38 27" in red chain stitch, representing the year, waist size, and inseam. There is a theory between Yankee uniform experts that 1960 World Series shirts and pants were tagged in red chain stitch. With the above said, it is our opinion that these may have been Mantle's 1960 World Series pants. The pants show outstanding game use and appear to have no alterations of any kind. We were told through a detailed letter from our consignor that the pants were acquired from a woman whose father had close relations with the Yankees players and received a full uniform from Mantle, the jersey from which still belongs to her brother. These pants would compliment any Mantle game-used jersey and highlight any memorabilia collection! Includes a letter from the consignor.
