Ruppert and Huston bought the New York Highlanders in 1913 and renamed them the Yankees, beginning the storied history of the franchise. This near mint original 1916 New York Yankees stock certificate, signed by Jacob Ruppert, originates from when Ruppert bought out Huston that year. A truly remarkable lot, this piece combines Yankee history at an embryonic stage with this country's ever important economic history, making it a genuinely invaluable piece of American history. There are several punch holes, including some on the signatures, and the certificate grades EX besides the punch holes. The signature rates an 8 and comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. A signed stock certificate such as this is very rare!
