Dan Marino played 17 seasons in the NFL and retired as one of the premier quarterbacks of all time. This helmet was worn by Dan in 1999 during his final season and is one of the finest representations available. On the front of the helmet is the "Riddle" logo and on the side are the Dolphins team logo decals. On the back of the helmet is the NFL logo decal and an orange name plate reading "13 Marino" as placed there by the team. The chin strap has "13" handwritten near the left snap attributing it to Marino. These chin straps are usually replaced, making this one especially rare. The inside of the helmet has been lined with wool, a custom detail that was performed at Marino's request. We have been told of two possible reasons for this: the helmet dates from the later period of his career and the wool may have been intended as a shock absorber, and it may have been added for warmth as the season stretched into the colder months. Marino's jersey number "13" appears twice on the inside in black marker. Velcro has been added by each ear for the headphones. The helmet shows nice use and has been signed "Dan Marino 13" in black marker rating an 8. The autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DN and Pat Catello.
