Chosen out of East Central Oklahoma University by the New York Jets in the second round of the 1979 NFL draft of college players, Mark Gastineau became one of the most feared defensive ends of the early 1980's, teaming with Joe Klecko to lead a line nicknamed "The New York Sack Exchange." On the left front tail is the "Champion" label with the size "L." On the back of the jersey is a green mesh nameplate with the name the name "Gastineau." The player number "99" appears on the front, back and on each shoulder of the jersey. The letters and numbers are white and have been ironed-on. The bottom of the jersey has been custom-cut. The nameplate has some pulls around the edges. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the custom-cut bottom, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
