A player's greatness is always easier to embrace by the casual and superfan when that player must overcome early adversity. Such was the case with Jerry Rice, who needed a late season push to earn Rookie of the Year honors in 1985. In 16 years in the NFL, Rice has caught more passes for more yards and for more touchdowns than anyone in the regular season, playoffs and Super Bowl. No one has dominated his position in football more than Rice. This jersey was worn during the 1991 NFC Championship game against the New York Giants. On the back of the shirt is a red mesh nameplate with the name "Rice." The player number "80" appears on the front, back and on each sleeve of the jersey. All the letters and numbers are made of white tackle twill. There is an autograph on the back number "8." The crotch piece has been removed and the bottom of the shirt has been custom-hemmed. These alterations were done by the 49ers as per Jerry Rice's request. There are several repair marks on the shirt. There is an autograph on the back number "8." The autograph rates a 9. The jersey shows good game-use and with the exception of the above-mentioned changes, appears to have no other alterations of any kind. It comes with a team letter and the autograph comes with a letter from PSA/DNA.
