Eddie Giacomin made his NHL debut with the New York Rangers during the 1965-66 season. By the next year he was the team's starting goalie and made it onto the first of what would become five consecutive all-star teams. With Ed in goal the Rangers became a team to contend with and he helped the club make it to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in over 20 years. The offered jersey was worn by Giacomin in the early 1970s and is a beautiful representation of the classic Rangers tie down. On the inside left rear tail is the "Gerry Cosby" manufacturers label. Adjacent to this are the size "48" and wash flag tags. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "Rangers" and on the back is the player name "Giacomin" and number "1." The number also appears on each sleeve. All of the letters and numbers are made from blue in red tackle twill. The jersey shows evidence of outstanding game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. There are two repair marks to left side of the back number "1." The jersey comes with an additional letter of authenticity and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The stick was manufactured by "Sher-Wood" and has Ed's last name "Giacomin" and number "1" on the shaft in block lettering. Also on the shaft are the "Made in Canada", "Sherbrooke Quebec", "Pettern Made", and "P.M.P" stampings. Tape has been applied to the top end and face of the stick presumably to aid in Giacomin's grip and the grip of the puck to the sticks hitting surface. It shows evidence of fantastic game-use.
