Former heavyweight boxing champion Max Baer won 72 bouts over a 13-year career that spanned from 1929-1941 and was highlighted by his 11-round victory over Primo Carnera to claim the title on June 14, 1934. Baer fought all the greats of his era, including Jack Dempsey, Max Schmeling and the immortal Joe Louis. This pair of training gloves was used by Baer while he prepared for his 1935 bout with the "Brown Bomber." These 11 inch brown gloves exhibit the Frank Flores manufacturers tag at the bottom and show tremendous use. The left glove is complete with laces and bears a faint "Max" inside while the right is the "Max" in blue ink, also on the insideThe gloves are accompanied by a letter detailing how they were obtained directly from Baer after a sparring session in the Adirondacks.
